Michael Karling

Michael Karling

Michael graduated the University of Nottingham in 2013 with a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. Having taken a year out to travel and work as a Design Engineering Intern at Peak Scientific in Paisley, he is now thoroughly enjoying studying Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment at the University of Strathclyde. He hopes to start a career in Renewables and or Energy systems after graduating.

Within this project, Michael found the potential for thermal storage within smart grids extremely thought provoking. Creating a working tool for systems analysis was extremely satisfying.

Athanasios Lentzios

Athanasios Lentzios

Athanasios is from Greece and studied BEng Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering at University of Patras(Greece). He has 3 years professional experience in mechanical engineering on the construction field at multidiscipline EPC projects in Saudi Arabia. He is also Energy Inspector for building facilities. He is currently studying MSc in Renewable Energy Systems & the Environment as he was always attracted by renewable energy and especially on how the negative environmental impacts by construction activities can be minimized.

Within this project he had the opportunity to realize how greenhouse gas emissions vary for different district heating schemes and investigate mitigation methods by incorporating renewable electric district heaing.

Russell Pepper

Russell Pepper

After graduating with a BEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2007, Russell worked as a graduate in Edinburgh for 18 months. After being laid off in early 2009, he worked for an environmental NGO in Costa Rica for 6 months, reinforcing his passion for environmental issues there; he has since decided to make a change in his career path and undertake an MSc in Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. With this degree he hopes to be able to work on the issues that matter most to him.

Scott Meadows

Scott Meadows

Scott studied Physics at the University of Glasgow and graduated in 2014 with a BSc (Hons). His final year project involved the charactersiation of the Medipix3RX hybrid-pixel particle detector which was supported by CERN. He is currently doing an MSc in Sustainable Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. In the future Scott plans on working in the Renewable Engineering sector.
